Funeral Directors Honored in Times Square

Last night, funeral directors from across the country were recognized in Times Square. We have been fortunate to represent funeral service in many ways over the years — in print, on podcasts, on television — but this was a first for us: appearing on the Times Square Jumbotron as part of The First Call national campaign.

As luck would have it, we couldn’t attend in person (a disappointment, especially on such a beautiful spring night). But we were able to watch the video, and yes — it was deeply rewarding to see ourselves alongside so many respected colleagues from across the country.

As the evening’s literature noted, “This national moment shines a light on the people who guide families through loss, who show up in life’s hardest hours, and who help communities honor those they love.

For many, funeral directors do some of the most important work there is, often quietly and without recognition.”

Last night underscored the quiet devotion, compassion, and sense of duty funeral directors bring to their work every day.
